  • How long does an energy audit take?
    On average it can take 2-3 hours to complete an audit, with a potential of it taking 4+ hours. Houses with gas, oil or propane heat tend to be on the longer side compared to a house that has electric heat.
  • What do you do in an energy audit?
    Our team will take a comprehensive look at your home and find areas where you are losing energy and spending excess money on utility bills. We use a variety of testing equipment such as an infrared camera to check on insulation and leaks, a blower door test to find how much the home is leaking and where, and gas safety equipment to check for high CO and any gas leaks.
  • What do I receive at the end of the energy audit?
    You will receive a game plan for your home to maximize efficiency and comfort in the form of an audit report. This report will contain the findings from the inspection, recommendations to improve any issues with notes, and yearly savings to calculate ROI for any investment made in the home. You will also be qualified for rebates through utility sponsored programs (BGE, PEPCO, DELMARVA).
  • Where in the house do you need to go into?
    Ideally our team will have access to the entire home, but the priority areas will include the attic, HVAC room, bathrooms, kitchen, and any trouble areas. All doors will need to be able to be opened and closed during the audit for certain testing that is performed.
  • Where can I learn more about the rebate programs?

  • Why do I receive rebates?
    The rebates and energy efficiency programs are funded through the EmPOWER MD Act, which can be found as a sub-charge on the back of your utility bill. You can learn more on the state website here - https://energy.maryland.gov/pages/facts/empower.aspx
  • I already had an energy audit, can I have another one done?
    An energy audit is good for one full year before the rebates associated with the inspection expire. If you have had an audit over a year ago and would like to consider rebates you will need to have a second audit to refresh the rebates. The refresher audit will cost $300 as the $100 is a one time only offer and the full cost is supplemented by the utility.
